EVENT INFORMATION

Harelson Park will be transformed into an Animal Adventureland Art obstacle course lead by a local theater company. You can stop by the park from 12-4 to enjoy community art making, Indian classical music, a folk/soul duo, and performances by Corona del Sol High School’s Steel Drum Band, Pueblo Middle School Hand Bells, and Kyrene Middle School Jazz Band.

This is a FREE event created by the City of Tempe and the community members who live near Harelson Park. Street parking is limited, please walk or bike if possible! ANIMAL ADVENTURELAND ACTIVITIES
Created by local theater company, Catalyst Creative

Meditation Circle Walk
Residents take a solo walk through the meditation circle while a facilitator navigates them through the space with questions like “What are you seeing?”, “What are you hearing?”

Animal Movement
A guided movement exercise where people think of an animal and must move through the playground as their favorite animal.

Tactile Obstacle Course
Attendees must navigate a maze using only their sense of touch with their feet.

A Long Journey
Go out beyond the soccer field to find a hidden animal’s home by a big rock. When you find it, a guide leads you through a mirrored movement exercise and gives you a small object.

Spider’s Web String Maze
A spider has set up a home, but has forgotten how to navigate through it! Help her find her way back home.

Interactive Art
Large Communal Painting
Community members can help the chameleon create a new masterpiece – which must include all sorts of colors, shapes, and patterns!

Mini performance by Phil Weaver-Stoesz
Come and help the Walrus perform plays with stories that are made up on the spot.

Cardboard City
People are invited to make buildings and skyscrapers out of the massive building-block-boxes.
