About the Presentation:
ASA Now is proud to present an empowering and informative presentation: Jacob’s Law (HB 2442). Come and learn everything you need to know about your rights as a foster, kinship, or adoptive parent. Whatever your role in caring for at-risk children – we’d like to invite you attend.
Jacob’s Law (HB2442) provides required timelines to access behavioral and urgent health services, requires a placement packet, provides protections for caregivers, and provides Out-of-Home request timelines. Participants will also learn how to get involved to effectively advocate for vulnerable children and families, how to influence positive change and ensure their voice is heard.

2. Timelines: Required timelines for Behavioral Health: Rapid Response, Assessments, Service Appointments, Securing Out of County Services, Securing Services when service request timeline has expired.
3. Prevention, Out of Home Requests and Consent for services: Learn about the Dedicated Foster Care Hotline, when to call the crisis team, out of home requests and timelines, services foster/adoptive parents can consent to.
4. Child and Family Team Meeting: Service plan, request for services, Crisis Plan, Safety Plan
5. How to become legislatively involved
The passage of Jacob’s Law has resulted in an increased awareness of family and member rights and has improved access to behavioral health services. Attending educational sessions on Jacob’s Law assists attendees in learning navigate the system, particularly for children/youth with high needs. Ongoing education about Jacob’s Law is critical for both families and any professionals who engage with children.
The presenter is a foster and adoptive mom who faced great burdens and barriers to care for her children who took on the cause of helping thousands of children and families throughout the state of Arizona and effectively helped pass Jacob’s Law. Jacob’s Law provides required timelines to access behavioral and urgent health services, requires a placement packet, provides protections for caregivers and it provides Out-of-Home request timelines.
Anika Robinson has a B.A. in Education from Ottawa University. She is a foster and adoptive parent to ten children who as a private citizen authored and helped pass Jacob’s Law. Anika was the former Foster Care Community Liaison at AHCCCS and is the President of ASA Now, a foster care charitable organization.
