Join us for the first First Friday of the Year! Listen as music fills the museum, with musician and artist Randy Kemp (Mvskoke-Creek/Euchee/Choctaw), listen in on a Poetry Slam in Monte Vista MC’d by the 2019 Phoenix Youth Poet Laureate Sareya Taylor (White Mountain Apache, Dine. Sareya Taylor is a 17-year-old member of the White Mountain Apache and Navajo tribes. As Phoenix Youth Poet Laureate, Sareya serves as literary ambassador, and is committed to the re-dedication of the true history of Indigenous people and educating others about current issues within Indian Country we are pleased to have her be a part of this special evening.
Additional Poets included in this special Poetry Slam include Taté Walker (Mniconjou Lakota), Dominique Daye Hunter and Jay Mercado for poetry and stories at this can’t miss event at 7 p.m. in the Monte Vista Room!

The Museum’s Courtyard Café and Cantina will be open from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. serving up delicious food and libations inspired by Yosemite!
FREE ADMISSION 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Please note: While general admission is free there is a $5 charge for our special exhibition David Hockney’s Yosemite and Masters of California Basketry
Heard Museum Policies
Help us keep you and the artwork safe by:
‣ Remembering the artwork should not be touched
‣ Food and beverages (including bottles of water) are not permitted inside the Museum.
‣ Backpacks (large and small) can be checked in our admissions lobby as they may damage the art. Shoulder bags are allowed.
Getting Here by Light Rail
The closest station to the Museum is the Encanto/Central Avenue stop, See this link to download the metro light rail brochure, containing a full map, fare details and operating hours.
Parking
A limited amount of parking is available at the Museum. Light Rail, ride share, and bike share, and park-and-ride are highly encouraged
