EVENT INFORMATION
Dr. John Fryer, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic, explores the recent revolution in our understanding of how the brain is influenced by the gut microbial community and their genetic material. Dr Fryer will share information on groundbreaking studies that have demonstrated a cause-and-effect relationship between certain gut microbes and normal brain function, and how these connections might be leveraged to treat mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Dr. Fryer is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Associate Dean of the Mayo Graduate School, researching AlzheimerĀ¹s disease and related dementias as well as the role of gut microbiome in mental health.
